I work from home and before this chair I was using a basic plastic chair from a local furniture shop. After about a year of sitting in it for 8 to 10 hours daily my lower back started complaining consistently. Not sharp pain, just that dull ache by evening that wouldn’t fully go away. My physiotherapist said posture and seating were the likely culprits and suggested looking at a proper ergonomic chair. After a lot of research I landed on the Green Soul Monster Ultimate. Been using it for about six months now.

    Assembly and First Impressions

It arrives in a large box 27 kg packed, which the delivery guys were not thrilled about carrying up two floors. Assembly took me about 45 minutes with the included tools and instructions. Nothing went wrong but having a second person help would have made the backrest attachment easier. Solo assembly is doable, just slightly awkward at one step.

First time I sat in it fully assembled my immediate reaction was how different the seat cushion felt compared to anything I’d used before. The memory foam actually responds to your weight and shape rather than just compressing flatly. The backrest is tall 88 cm which means it supports your upper back and shoulders fully, not just your lower back like shorter chairs.

The build feels solid. Metal base, metal frame inside, no creaking or flexing when you shift your weight. This is noticeably different from the cheaper gaming chairs I’d sat in at friends’ places that felt hollow and plasticky.

The Back Pain Question Honest Answer

This is what most people actually want to know. Six months in yes, the lower back ache is significantly better. Not gone completely on very long days, but the difference between coming to the end of a 9 hour work day now versus before this chair is noticeable. I’m not reaching for the heat pad in the evening nearly as often.

The lumbar pillow sits at exactly the right height for my lower back and keeps the natural curve of the spine supported rather than letting it flatten out from slouching. The neck pillow handles the upper back and shoulder tension that builds up during long video calls. Both are adjustable which matters because everyone’s body proportions are different.

The chair doesn’t fix posture for you you still have to sit properly. But it makes sitting properly the default comfortable position rather than something you have to consciously maintain. That’s the real ergonomic benefit.

Important caveat: if you have a diagnosed spine condition or serious back injury, a chair is not a treatment and you should be following medical advice. This chair helps with discomfort from long sitting hours that’s what it’s designed for and that’s what it delivers.

    Adjustability Used More Than Expected

I spent about twenty minutes adjusting everything when I first set it up and another ten minutes fine-tuning a week later once I knew how I actually sat. Seat height, armrest height and angle, lumbar pillow position, neck pillow position all of it matters more than you’d think.

The 5D armrests are genuinely useful. Being able to move them forward slightly so my elbows rest comfortably while typing reduced the shoulder tension I used to get significantly. Most chairs have fixed or basic up-down armrests having proper multi-directional adjustment makes a real difference.

The recline goes up to 180 degrees which I use during breaks. Tilt back, put feet up on the desk for 10 minutes, and you come back to work noticeably less stiff. It sounds like a small thing but across a full work week it adds up.

    Heat and Breathability

This is one area where PU leatherette chairs have a real limitation in Indian summers. By afternoon in May and June the seat surface does get warm and slightly uncomfortable. I keep a thin cotton cushion cover over the seat during summer months which solves it. The backrest is less of an issue because you’re not in full contact with it the way you are with the seat.

If breathability in hot weather is a primary concern the mesh variant is worth looking at. For the rest of the year the leatherette is comfortable and looks significantly better than mesh in my opinion.

Six Months of Daily Use Durability So Far

No squeaking, no loosening of any joints, wheels still roll smoothly, cushioning hasn’t compressed permanently. The PU leatherette has no cracking or peeling at any point. The gas lift holds at whatever height I set without slowly sinking which is a common failure point on cheaper chairs.

3-year warranty gives reasonable coverage if anything does go wrong. Green Soul’s customer support has a decent reputation online based on what I read before buying haven’t needed to test it personally.

    Who Is It Actually For

If you sit for more than 6 hours daily whether for work, study, gaming or any combination and you’re currently using a basic chair without proper back support, this is a meaningful upgrade that you’ll feel the benefit of within the first week.

The height suitability listed is 5’7″ to 6’6″. I’m 5’10” and it fits well. If you’re shorter than 5’7″ the seat height range and proportions might not work as well for your body worth considering before buying.

    Price

Standard version between ₹17,000 and ₹19,000. Pro version between ₹29,000 and ₹30,000. I bought the standard and it’s more than sufficient for work from home and general daily use. The Pro makes more sense if you’re sitting 12+ hours daily or want the ventilated seat for year-round comfort in a hot climate.

Check Amazon and Flipkart for current pricing there are occasional sales where you can get it meaningfully cheaper. Don’t pay above the listed ranges for the standard model.

    Worth Buying?

If your back hurts from long sitting hours and you’ve been putting off investing in a proper chair stop putting it off. Six months in, this is one of the better purchases I’ve made for my home setup. The difference in daily comfort is real and consistent.
