We installed this Voltas AC in our bedroom about four months ago when the old window unit finally died. The timing was terrible right at the start of peak summer. I’d done quick research and the Voltas 183INV CAV kept coming up as a sensible mid-range option that didn’t cost as much as Daikin or LG but wasn’t a no-name brand either. Here’s what four months of daily summer use actually looked like.

    Installation and First Impressions

    HonestReview
Voltas sent a technician within two days of purchase. Installation was straightforward indoor unit on the bedroom wall, outdoor unit on the balcony, copper piping connecting them. The whole process took about three hours. The indoor unit is compact at 92.5cm wide and 10.5kg, which the installation team handled easily.

The silver finish looks clean without trying to look premium. It sits on the wall without dominating the room visually. The remote is standard mode, temperature, fan speed, timer, and the convertible cooling button. Nothing complicated.

Cooling Performance What Summer Actually Tested

Our bedroom is roughly 150 square feet. On peak summer days with outside temperatures touching 42 degrees, the room reached comfortable sleeping temperature in about 15 minutes at 24 degrees setting. Not instant, but predictable and consistent.

The inverter compressor doesn’t cycle aggressively on and off the way non-inverter units do. Once the room hits the set temperature it maintains it steadily rather than letting it creep back up before blasting cold air again. That consistency made sleeping through the night comfortable no waking up because the room got warm between compressor cycles.

The 2-way air swing distributes cooling reasonably well across the room. For a single room it’s adequate. If you have a larger open space you’d want a 4-way swing but for a standard bedroom this works fine.

    The 5-in-1 Convertible Cooling Mode

    HonestReview
I was skeptical about this feature initially. In practice it’s genuinely useful in early summer and post-monsoon when you need some cooling but not full blast. Running the AC at 60 or 75 percent capacity on those days rather than full power saves on the electricity bill in a way I could see reflected month to month.

During peak heat we ran it at 100 percent which handles the load without any strain. The ability to dial it back during milder conditions rather than choosing between full power and off is more practically useful than I expected when researching.

    Electricity Usage The Honest Numbers

We ran this AC roughly 8 hours nightly through the summer months. Our electricity bill increase was around ₹2,000 to ₹2,400 per month compared to running a fan. For context our previous window AC added about ₹2,800 to ₹3,200 for comparable usage. The inverter efficiency and the convertible mode usage on shoulder days made a measurable difference.

The 3-star rating isn’t the most efficient available 5-star models would save more but the price difference at purchase meant the 3-star made more financial sense at our usage level. 900 units annual consumption stated in the specs is reasonably accurate based on our experience.

    Auto Clean and Filter Maintenance

    HonestReview
The auto clean function runs for a few minutes after the AC is turned off and you can hear it working a brief cycle that dries the internal components to prevent moisture buildup. Whether this meaningfully extends cleanliness I can’t say with certainty after four months, but the unit hasn’t developed any musty smell which our previous AC used to develop after a few weeks.

The anti-dust filter is accessible from the front panel pull off the cover, slide out the filter, rinse under the tap, dry, replace. I cleaned it once after two months and it had accumulated visible dust. Easy ten-minute job. The anti-microbial coating on the filter is a practical addition for Indian environments where dust and humidity both work against air quality.

    Noise Level Bedroom Usage Test

    HonestReview
46 dB is the spec and it’s accurate in practice. At low fan speed it’s a gentle hum that fades into background. At high fan speed it’s more noticeable but still not disruptive. My wife is a light sleeper and she runs it at medium fan speed overnight without complaints about noise. The outdoor unit on the balcony is audible when it starts up but settles into a consistent hum that you stop noticing.

    Memory Restart After Power Cuts

We get frequent power cuts in our area during summer. The memory restart feature means the AC comes back on at the same settings it was at before the cut. Small feature but genuinely useful when you’re half asleep at 2am and the power flickers the AC resumes without you having to fumble for the remote.

Voltas vs Daikin, LG, Blue Star

    HonestReview
At this price point Voltas competes mainly on value. Daikin and LG at similar capacity cost ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 more and offer better 4-way airflow, superior compressor efficiency, and stronger service reputations in some cities. If budget allows those are worth considering.

What Voltas offers at its price Tata group brand backing, decent service network, inverter technology, 10-year compressor warranty makes it a reasonable choice for buyers who don’t want to stretch to premium brands for a single bedroom AC. Blue Star is a comparable alternative worth checking pricing on before deciding.

    The 10-Year Compressor Warranty

Worth highlighting specifically because the compressor is the most expensive component to replace. Most brands offer 5 years. Voltas offering 10 years on the inverter compressor adds meaningful long-term confidence. Whether you’ll actually need it is impossible to predict but having that coverage on the most critical component changes the risk calculation when comparing to cheaper no-name alternatives.

Voltas 1.5 Ton 3 Star Inverter AC Price (2026 Model)

Voltas 1.5 Ton 3 Star 2026 Model AC Review
Pricing for this AC varies more than most products and understanding why helps you avoid overpaying. Here’s what you actually need to know before buying.

The main model we’ve reviewed the 183INV CAV 1.5 Ton variant is currently listed at around ₹33,990 on Flipkart as the standard price. On Amazon, prices for the same model tend to sit between ₹31,500 and ₹33,500 depending on the seller and stock availability.

The official Voltas brand website lists it higher at around ₹36,500. There’s rarely a reason to pay that unless you specifically want to buy direct from the brand for peace of mind. The same product with the same warranty is available cheaper through authorized retailers on Amazon and Flipkart.

One thing worth clarifying: you may see a 173V CAE variant listed at ₹28,900 on Amazon. That’s a 1.4 Ton model, not 1.5 Ton. It’s a different hardware subset, not the same product at a lower price. If your room is on the larger side or you’re in a hot climate, don’t confuse the two when comparing prices.

    Retailer Price Comparison

Model / Variant Approximate Price Worth Considering If
183INV CAV 1.5 Ton (Flipkart) ₹33,990 Standard buying option
183INV CAV 1.5 Ton (Amazon) ₹31,500 to ₹33,500 Best regular price for main model
Budget variant (CAW) Around ₹30,990 Lowest entry point if available
173V CAE 1.4 Ton (Amazon) Around ₹28,900 Smaller rooms only different tonnage
Official Voltas Website Around ₹36,500 Direct brand purchase preference

    What’s a Good Deal and What’s Overpriced

If you find the authentic 1.5 Ton 183INV CAV below ₹32,000 during a sale event like Republic Day, End of Season, or Great Indian Festival that’s a genuinely good deal and worth buying immediately.

The standard non-sale price is ₹33,000 to ₹34,000 on major platforms which is fair for what you’re getting.

Don’t pay above ₹35,000 for the standard model unless the seller is explicitly including free installation, extended warranty, or a verified AMC bundle in the invoice. Paying ₹35,000 or more without those extras means you’re overpaying the same product is consistently available cheaper.

Before You Buy Check These Things

    HonestReview
Verify the model number matches 183INV CAV if you want the 1.5 Ton version we reviewed. Don’t assume all Voltas 1.5 Ton 3-star listings are the same model.

Installation cost is separate typically ₹1,500 to ₹2,500 depending on your city and installation complexity. Factor this into your total budget before comparing prices across platforms.

Buy from Amazon, Flipkart, or Voltas authorized dealers. Third-party marketplace sellers on other platforms sometimes list at inflated prices. The warranty is tied to the purchase invoice so buying from a legitimate source matters for the 10-year compressor warranty to be honoured.

If you’re not in a rush, check prices in September to November post-monsoon AC demand drops and prices often come down by ₹2,000 to ₹3,000 compared to summer peak pricing.

    Four Months In

No service calls, consistent cooling through peak summer, electricity consumption in line with expectations, and the auto clean feature keeping the unit fresh. For a bedroom AC purchased at a mid-range price point it’s done what we needed it to do without surprises. Solid and reliable rather than impressive.
