My old trimmer was a Philips I’d been using for four years. It still worked but the battery had dropped to maybe 15 minutes of runtime and one of the comb attachments had cracked. Rather than replacing just the attachments I decided to switch entirely. Spent a few days looking at options in the ₹1,500 to ₹2,500 range and kept landing back on the Mi Beard Trimmer 2. Bought it about three months ago. Here’s what daily use actually looks like.
The Dial This Is the Feature That Makes the Difference
Most trimmers in this price range use a slider to adjust comb length. You push it up or down to hit the setting you want and hope it locks in place. The Mi Beard Trimmer 2 uses a rotating dial in the center of the body instead. Spin it, it clicks into position, done.
This sounds like a minor difference and in practice it’s a significant one. The dial is more precise each click is a defined 0.5mm step rather than trying to land a slider at the right notch. It’s more repeatable I can set it to exactly 4mm every single time without guessing. And it’s faster one hand, spin the dial, trim.
I maintain a specific stubble length. Before this trimmer I was always slightly off and having to adjust. Now I set it once and the result is consistent every session.
Blades Three Months In
Self-sharpening stainless steel and after three months of twice-weekly use the blades feel the same as the first day. No change in how cleanly they cut, no pulling or snagging. I have slightly sensitive skin on the neck area and the blades haven’t caused any irritation throughout.
40 length settings from 0.5mm to 20mm covers every beard style I’ve wanted to try. Short stubble, slightly longer designer stubble, a maintained short beard all accessible without swapping attachments for every change, just rotating the dial to the appropriate setting.
Battery No Longer a Daily Concern
90 minutes on a full charge is a lot for a trimmer. I trim twice a week for about 8 to 10 minutes each session. A full charge lasts me two to three weeks. I charge it on a Sunday evening occasionally and it’s always ready.
Coming from a 15-minute battery this feels like a different category of product. I’ve stopped carrying a backup plan for when the trimmer dies mid-session.
USB-C charging is genuinely convenient. Same cable as my phone, power bank works, laptop works. No hunting for a specific proprietary cable. I travel for work occasionally and this trimmer goes in the bag with no special consideration needed the travel pouch keeps it clean and the charging is handled by whatever USB-C cable I’m already carrying.
Noise and Daily Comfort
The motor is quiet. I use it at 7am sometimes and it hasn’t woken anyone else in the flat which is my personal benchmark for acceptable noise. No vibration issues, doesn’t heat up even during longer grooming sessions, combs sit stable on the body without wobbling.
The LED indicator is simple shows charging status and gives a rough battery level indication. Nothing fancy but it does its job.
Cleaning
Remove the blade head, rinse under the tap, use the included cleaning brush for what the water doesn’t get, reattach. Two minutes. The body isn’t waterproof so full immersion isn’t an option but the washable head handles everything hygiene needs.
Compared to My Old Philips
The Philips blade quality over its four-year life felt consistently excellent Philips invests heavily in blade longevity and it shows. Three months isn’t enough to judge the Mi Beard Trimmer 2’s long-term blade durability comparably. Based on current performance it’s holding up well but that’s a fair limitation of this review timeline.
The dial system, battery life, and USB-C charging are all better on the Mi than the Philips equivalent at this price. The Philips felt slightly more refined in the trimming vibration smoother motor sensation. The difference is subtle rather than dramatic.
For Havells trimmers I’ve used briefly at friends’ places the Mi feels more comfortable on skin and the dial system is clearly superior to the sliders on comparable Havells models.
Price
Between ₹1,700 and ₹2,000 on Amazon and Flipkart and at Xiaomi stores. I paid ₹1,799. At that price for the feature set 40 settings, USB-C, 90-minute battery, washable head, travel pouch it’s genuinely good value. Don’t pay above ₹2,000 for the standard model.
Three Months In
The daily grooming routine is noticeably smoother than before. Consistent results from the dial, battery that doesn’t require planning around, charging that uses the same cable as everything else. For someone maintaining a beard or stubble regularly this trimmer handles the job well at a fair price.
